Is it ok by gurmat?

Thanks to Guroo Sahib I have been tying my dumalla for ages now :) , but recently I have a slight problem with it becoming too fat (this is because when going to school I try not to do it too tall)
I think I realised one reason was the way I tie my boonga, It's hard to explain but theres a certain part of my boonga where I kind of spread the keski over my joora to make it neat, but after that all the layers around my head get a bit too bunched up.

I was wondering is it ok if I tied a boonga which covered only my joora, then a keski which goes round three times and then finally my dastaar?

I know the questions abit... nitpicky, but you can never be too sure!

Fateh!

The way I learned how to do my Dumalla was to tie separate material round my hair to make a boonga which only covers my joora. Then I tie a separate Keski which goes round 4 times, then finally my Dumalla.

However,I do not know if this is in accordance with Gurmat.

If someone who knows could let us all know please that would be great.
