VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH!

In accordance to Guru Granth Sahib ji, how much free will do we have?
Is everything in our lives preordained?
I am confused on this topic as guru sahib tell us to work hard in acheiving a gursikh jeavan for ourslves, but at the same time guru sahib tells us that what hapens in this life is all written out already?
Is that we have free will but what we will do is already known by vaheguru?.
Kulbir Singh if you could shed some light here it would be appreciated thanks...
