ਮਹਾਭਾਰਤ ਵਿਖੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਕਰਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਵਧੀਆ ਕਾਰੀਗਰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਗਹਿਣੇ ਘੜ੍ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਰੱਥ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਮੁਹਾਰਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਕਰਮਾ ਜਯੰਤੀ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਰੀਗਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੰਮਕਾਜ ਬੰਦ ਰਖਦੇ ਹਨ। ਵਿਸ਼ਵਕਰਮਾ ਮੰਦਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਕਰਮਾ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਮੂਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਉਪ੍ਰੰਤ ਹਵਨ ਯੱਗ ਵੀ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਵੀ ਕੱਢੀਆਂ ਜਾਦੀਆ ਹਨ। ਵਿਸ਼ਵਕਰਮਾ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਦਿਨ ਮਨਾਉਣਾ ਉਹਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਧਾਂਤ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਨ। ਅੱਜ ਇਹ ਦੇਖ ਕੇ ਹੈਰਾਨੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਂਰਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਦੇ ਪੁਰਬ ਮਨਾਏ ਜਾਣੇ ਵੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਸੁਖਮਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਠ, ਆਸਾ ਕੀ ਵਾਰ ਦਾ ਕੀਰਤਨ, ਅਖੰਡ ਪਾਠ, ਹਫ਼ਤਾ-ਹਫ਼ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤ ਫੇਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਛੱਤਰ-ਛਾਇਆ ਹੇਠ ਨਗਰ ਕੀਰਤਨ । ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੰਨਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਵਲੋ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਕਰਮਾ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਦਿਨ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਨਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਸੰਬੰਧ? ਸਿੱਖ ਰਹਿਤ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਵਿਚ ਦਰਜ ਹੈ, ‘ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਮੂਰਤੀ-ਪੂਜਾ ਜਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਗੁਰਮਿਤ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਕੋਈ ਰੀਤੀ ਜਾਂ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਨਾ ਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਅਨਮਤ ਦਾ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇ’।
ਕੀ ਅਸੀ ਸੱਚ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਮਨੋਕਲਪਤ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਦਾ ਪੁਰਬ ਮਨਾ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਭੁੱਲ ਤਾਂ ਨਹੀ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ? ਕੀ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਭੁਲਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੀ ਅੱਜ ਸਾਡੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਨਿਰਾਸ਼ਾ ਤਾ ਨਹੀ ਪੈ ਰਹੀ? ਕੀ ਅਸੀ ਬਿੱਪ੍ਰ ਵਲੋ ਫੈਲਾਏ ਮੱਕੜ ਜਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਤਾਂ ਨਹੀ ਫੱਸ ਰਹੇ?

It doesn't seem to be according to Gurmat to celebrate the festival of Vishwakarma. In India I noticed a lot of Sikh shopowners keeping pictures of Vishwakarma and this shows nothing but ignorance. I don't think Vishwakarma is even mentioned in Gurbani.

The followers from Chamaar background are keeping pictures of Bhagat Ravidaas jee. Bhagat jee was a great Bhagat and considered Sat Sangat as everything. He never preached himself to be a Guru. Our Guru Sahibaan called Bhagat jee a "Bhagat"and if he had the status of a Guru, he would have been called a "Mahalla" in Gurbani.

I feel pity on the people, who in ignorence give such remarks about not celebrating Sri Vishkarma day in Gurudwara or Baba Namdev gurpurb in Gurudwara or
Baba Budha Ji day in Gurudwaras,
As per gurbani it may be right not to celebrate these important bhagats days in gurudwara.
If some celebrate birthday and other days related to thes great figures in gurudwaras,I don ot feel any thing bad.
I have seen randhawa comunities celibrate Baba Budha Ji day in gurudwara and also sepcial lungar of Missi roti is also prepared. It is because Baba Budha Ji were randhawa by caste. All people belonging that comunity consider Baba Budha ji as their ancester. I do not feel there is any thing bad. If We can celebrate our son's birth day. At least I can say that we must find a way to celebrate each day in gurudwara.
So other comunities should also have a right to celebrate their ancesteral's days in gurudwara. Here is a catch.
Out of love or affection to our ancesters, we should not cross gurmat maryada limit. Like doing havan and yagna in gurudwara.

ਇਕ ਪਾਸੇ ਤਾਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਰਚਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ, ਜਨਮ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਨਾਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਕਰਮਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਬਾਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪੈਰ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਸੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਫੁਰਮਾਨ ਹੈ:

ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਰੇਖ ਨ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਭਿੰਨ॥ (283)
ਜਦਹੁ ਆਪੇ ਥਾਟੁ ਕੀਆ ਬਹਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਤਦਹੁ ਪੁਛਿ ਨ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਬੀਆ ॥
ਤਦਹੁ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਲੇਵੈ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਦੇਵੈ ਜਾਂ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੀਆ ॥ (551)

ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਅਡੰਬਰ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਲੀਡਰਾਂ ਵਲੋ ਵੋਟਾਂ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ, ਗ੍ਰੰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਗੀਆਂ-ਢਾਡੀਆਂ ਵਲੋ ਨੋਟਾਂ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ, ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਗੋਲਕ ਦਾ ਢਿੱਡ ਭਰਨ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਲੋਂ ਅੰਨੀ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਵੱਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
