Don't know about paat but I think certain protein rich foods such as milk and cheese don't help at all.

Usually it is age related, teenage years. It may have a genetic component because it's related to the oil secreted and infections of the oil glands in the face. Buying astringents only dry out the skin and cause more oil production.

Best to buy a face cream from the store (read the label) noncomedogenic. That means the lotion wont form comedoes, which are the pus filled cysts that cause acne. Otherwise simply applying lotion or face cream will create more acne.

Next wash your face, but don't overwash it, with plain soap and water and lightly tap dry with a towel. The goal is to avoid rubbing, irritating, or touching the face with your hands. Much oil is on your hands. Also keep your hairs out of your face, because the hairs have oil. Wash your face like this at least morning and evening. But don't wash more than this.

Once you have acne showing, the infection is in there and even if you clean, it will not show improvement for 2-3 weeks. But these things will help.

If you go to a dermatologist, they will give you topical and oral antibiotics to help heal the infection, and there are topical medications like Retin-A, which will clear and heal acne. The biggest side effect with Retin-A is don't be out in the sun, because it makes your skin vulnerable to bad sunburns. So common sense keeping from long periods of sun exposure. Otherwise the medicine is very effective and lasts for months.

I don't believe diet is a big factor, except maybe do eat healthy so you build your immune system. And be sure to get plenty of sleep because the body is growing and changing and puts a stress on you. Even take naps sometimes.

If you are older, like mid 20's, 30's, 40's, then the cause would more likely be a hormone imbalance for sudden case of acne, or side effect of medication. Best to see a general physician.

Diet is a huuuge factor in skin health! Skin and gut mucosa go hand in hand, if you have a healthy digestive system, then you most likely have healthy skin. That is the basis of the elimination/hypoallergenic diet. Also, if there is any constipation or slowing of transit time, then chances are there is hormonal recycling (enterohepatic cycling) and a build up of hormones leading to more acne and other hormone linked problems.

You only really understand that you have aggravations by certain foods once you totally clean your diet and your gut starts to heal.

I would totally advise on staying away from any form of Vitamin A creams and medications for the problem. Excess Vitamin A is very harmful for your liver and it's easy for it to build up because it's fat soluble even if applied topically (it's also contraindicated in pregnancy). Don't use any lotions/creams period and if at all possible just wash your face with water and maybe oatmeal soap (ie. aveeno).

My advice would be to go see your local naturopathic doctor regarding a diet protocol or... start doing Ramkali Ki Vaar dhay paath with full faith!
