Uglier people have it harder in life

I was in Whistler about 2 weeks, and I was just hearing a conversation from these shallow people in front of me. It was so hard trying to resist listening to these people talk with each other, that I gave up.

However, what they were stating was so entirely true, that if a person is beautiful this whole world is their oyster to them.

If you ever goto a restaurant, will you ever see a fat person as a waitress at a fine dining establishment.

If you ever goto trendy clothing shops, when was the last time you saw a person who worked there was unatractive.

Its so true that this world is all just maya based, I mean the faces we each other aren't even real, who knows how much darkness is inside that face that radiates.

What I learned is to stop loking for outer beauty, and start looking for the inner. I think we as a people should stop having a cave-man mentality..

Anyways,

Fateh.

Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki fateh.

Unfortunately what you say is true..."external beauty" is what everybody wants and goes after...

People keep saying "beauty is skin deep.... and look for the real beauty inside a person....blah blah blah...and in the end they too go for the beautiful one - be it for a wife, for a house, for a flower, for a pet ....whatever..so i say such words are only at the tip of the tongue !!!

Gurbani teaches us to become beautiful INSIDE..... this is within our control..OUTSIDE we are made as Waheguru made us and we have no choice in the matter even though a lot of us try to IMPROVE..by going to Hair stylists and beauty parlours, skin specialists and Plastic surgeons, wieght loss professionals and weight gain professionals... what a waste. The OUTSIDE will REMAIN HERE to return to DUST.... while the INSIDE over which we have compete control can be IMPROVED so much and best of all will FOLLOW US to Dharam Raaj !!!

In fact it is beleived that men began to shave facial hair etc due to the innate desire to look like women (beautiful ).....earlier all men of honour had full hair dastaar beard ...... now a days this is a rare breed mostly confined to Amrtidharee Sikhs only.... what a shame.

Dass jarnail singh.

Actually, I happy to be "ugly". I think my life is easier because of it. Beauty and its pursuit are highly distractive for Sikhs.

The outer appearance is also god given!!

Haven't you seen the depictions artists make of our guru's??? are they not all handsome and very attractive??? with regards to our beloved tenth Guru, Siri Guru Gobing Singh Ji, could it not have been possible that they may have had facial scars due to Gatka....?, a darker complexion due to being out in the sun??? They may have had a broken nose due to sparing in gatka???? yet how many of us are willing to even think/viualise this????

Yet they are always depicted as light skinned, with perfectly proportioned features...!

The external shell is also carved by Waheguru, just as they mold our internal being....

Q: Could our outer appearance also be related to our past karm????

And yes we as humanity do judge the book by the cover, most of the time, becasue 'first impressions do last.....!!

Fateh,

khalsa?

Jarnal Singh ji
....

Wearing a beard was very common in Europe during the middle ages and the renaissance, actually what did really happen was during war.

The Polish cut their beard hair, so they would recognize who their enemies were.

i am not sure, I think my socials 9 teacher told me that.

I have never personally, as yet encountered an ugly singh or singhnee. so i am not sure what everyone is complaining about. all gursikhs have a radiance about their face whether they are fat or thin, tall or short, light skinned or dark skinned.

i highly doubt guru gobind singh had any scars from gatka or a broken nose because guruji was god himself and was never beaten in a spar.

I totally agree with Anon. No one could have ever beaten Siri Guru Gobind Singh jee or Siri Guru Hargobind Sahib jee in sparring.

And yes, all gurmukhs are beautiful. No one is ugly.

Daas,
Kulbir Singh

no one could have beaten Guru Gobind Singh...?

Please lets get real here...its those kind of 'heavenly' comments which mare our so beautiful past. If our ten living guru's were one thing, that one thing was real........they expected us to live in reality too, not in some mythical world.

ugly guy...

The description you gave, is that of Siri Guru Har Gobind Ji, Not our Tenth Guru, Siri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who has been described as being shorter than 6ft.
(apologies for not remembering the document in which this was mentioned.)

Vahiguru ji ka khalsa, Vahiguru ji ki fateh!

Sadh Sangat Jio,

At one point in Western civilisation to be without beard and to call oneself a man was not possible.

The derrogatory term 'bare-faced liar' emanated from those days...the concept of lying and not having a dhari were, as in this example, completely connected.

Vahiguru ji ki fateh!

Of course no Gursikh is ugly, but I think "Ugly Guy" is reffering to western societies definition of ugly.

Anon, you wrote:

"i highly doubt guru gobind singh had any scars from gatka or a broken nose because guruji was god himself and was never beaten in a spar."

but...

Scars or broken bones would not have made GuruJi any less perfect. Lets not forget one Guru Sahib was shot with bullets.
