Bhagat Singh was definitely brave and sacrificed his life for his country. During his times, there were several others who had more sacrifices than him but they are not remembered like Sardar Bhagat Singh. Bhagat Singh himself was a great fan of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, who's picture he always carried in his wallet.

While talking to Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee, Sardar Bhagat Singh admitted that the sacrifices that desh-bhagats of 1914-1915 Lahore Conspiracy case had much higher sacrifice than the later desh bhagats but the communal media that at that time was controlled by Arya Samajis, did not give due credit to the desh-bhagats of Gadar party and Babbar Akali Party. Who can be a greater freedom fighter than Babu Santa Singh, Bhai Kishan Singh Garhgajj, Dhanna Singh Behbalpuri, Kartar Singh Dakha, Nidhan Singh Chugh, Sohan Singh Bhakna, Visakha Singh Dadehar, Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee, Madan Lal Dhingra, and many more? Bengali Desh Bhagats were just amazing. Their sacrifice is now totally forgotten and not to mention the desh bhagats like Chander Shekhar Azad and Ram Prasad Bismil. Their lives are not celebrated today and they are now restrained to few lines in history books. This is so sad.

Having said the above, I definitely bow my head to the sacrifice of Bhagat Singh but wish other desh bhagats too were recognized.

Kulbir Singh
