vaheguroojeekakhalsa vaheguroojeekeefateh!

when a person would like to receive amrit, should they go to the next amrit sanchaar, OR should they prepare themselves by waiting a year to ensure that they can keep full rehit?

how fruitful is it for a non amritdhari to do waheguru jaap at amritvela? would it be more beneficial to do mool mantar jaap before amrit, then obviously naam abhiyaas after amrit?

thankyou

vaheguroojeekakhalsa vaheguroojeekeefateh!

you can meditate on either. mool mantr is easier to focus on.
don't wait a full year if you don't need to.
you're not expected to keep full rahit before getting amrit chuk. throughout our whole lives we evolve in rahit keeping, not just before getting amrit chuk.

you should get into routine of keepign basic rahit and doing your nitnem - and then get amrit chuk. it'll make the transition easier for you. but don't wait too long, also you get way more benefit after getting amrit - so that's something to considere.

you get benefit from meditating on ''waheguru'' even before amrit, it's less though but still worth it of course.

There is no mention of waiting period in Gurmat maryada. When ones mind is fully prepared to give ones sees (head) to Guru Sahib, one should go for amrit. Giving your sees essentially means be prepared to obey all hukams of Guru Sahib and keep all rehit. One cant pick and choose from rehit. One must try ones best to keep rehit.

If ones mind is prepared, one should go to the first amrit sinchaar available. Who knows how long one is going to live. One should not risk leaving this world without obtaining the sanctuary of the True Guru Siri Guru Nanak Dev jee by taking Khanda Pahul (amrit chhak).

----------

In my humble opinion, there is no point of doing Naam abhyaas without getting authority to do so from Guru Sahib. One gets authorized to japp Naam only when one chhaks amrit. After chhakking amrit, the Guru-Roop Punj Pyare officially authorize the seekers to japp Naam by first telling them what Naam to japp and then teaching and doing DriR the Naam-Gurmantra. How can one japp Naam when one does not even know what Naam is? One knows what Naam-Gurmantra is only when the True Guru tells one the Naam.

Yes its immensely beneficial to do as much Gurbani paath or Mool Mantra as possible. As the matter of fact, this is whats recommended for non-amritdhaaris. Gurbani clearly says that whos mind loves Gurbani, they alone can take Naam Amrit:

Jina Gurbani mann bhaaiya, Amrit Chhak Chakke||

I feel that if a person
1. can get up between 4-4.30am(ideally 2-2.30am) on regular basis,(crores of non-sikh people in this world get up at around 4.30 for their morning walk and exercise, so its pretty shameful for an amritdhari not to even get up at 4.30 am.
2. is ready to keep minimum bibek ie. eating from hands of any amritdhari who is not committing bajar kurehits,
3. is capable of reading of 7 nitnem banis
If one can do these 3 things, one shud get pesh as quickly as possible because without naam our mind is weak and dirty, and by getting Naam Khanda this mind will only get stronger and the rehit also shud only get more pakki.and one can then move towards a stronger amritvela, a stronger bibek da pehra and can adopt rehits like sarbloh and bana.
