Sikhi to me represents that we can accomplish extrodinary things, that we are spose to be leaders, that were spose to welcome all challenges cause their is no challenge we cannot overcome, looking at our history were ordinary ppl came from all walks and took up the sikh face and became extrodinary beating the odds fighting and defeating army's who had better weapions and outnumbered us over and over and bashing them.

So what angers me is how is it that these problems have gotton big as they have, im frusterated i work at my local gurdwara and the leaders and elders frustarate me cause i think their more concerned about power and image then they are about the community.

Were is our community going to end up in 20 years at this pace

WHAT ARE SOME SOLUTIONS WE CAN START APPLYING TO FIX THESE PROBLEMS?

my view from personal experience is that gursikhs need to co-ordinate themselves, all over the world, however small in numbers they feel they. 1 or 1 million - no matter.

then they need to do gursikhee kamaee and ONLY THEN will their seva bear any worthwhile fruit and only then will they receive maharaaj jee's support - this is the most important aspect and without it, all will fail even if the 'seva' bears a little fruit.

they need to embrace 'tat gurmat' i.e. they need to consicously give their mind, body and wealth to guroo sahib by adopting gursikhee lifestyle throughout all aspects of their life (dasvandh, socialising, eating, dressing, speaking etc.). this will certainly attract maharaaj jee's grace.

this will give their ardaasaa(n) immense power and make their ardaasaa(n) parvaan. if this occurs, great things will happen as a result of individual gursikhs, let alone co-ordinated bands of them.

it may be bhana that they establish a gurduaraa sahib, it may be bhana that they meet at homes to do veechaar, it may be bhana that they carry-out programmes and parchaar at others homes, it may be bhana that they do massive amounts of gupt paath and ardaasaa(n) for the panth...the bottom line is that whatever they feel and do, they will do because of their obedience to maharaaj jee, and then maharaaj jee WILL DO all the seva he requires through them. every action of such gursikhs becomes bhagtee...their thoughts, words and actions.

may maharaaj jee do kirpa on this paapee that he may do seva of such gursikhs and thereby get close to pita jee. it is so easy people such as me to talk gurmat - may gurmat find it's way into our hearts.

I strongly appriciate ur great concern abt the community. I think knowledge abt sikhsm can be incresed amoung sikhs if we start teaching principles of sikhism right from our own family. i believe it works.

I have came across no of people in Punjab (mostly girls) tht even dont know the name of our 10 gurus. From here only u can find where sikh teaching stands. people are more aware of bollywood actors.

I feel strange coz these people never have discussed abt Guruji or Gurbani at their homes. this is the only reason why these people become an easy prey to self proclaimed Gods.

I think it is needed to teach our girls (more) abt the religion. This will help us greatly. I can strongly prove this point as well.

other problems are nt big thy can be eaisly fixed.
AT this time sikhism require some effective leadership too.

Atma Singh sidhu.hcl i agree with you guys totally, also some members of the community i feel like think the problems are to great, but i believe the solutions are simple and applying them are simple but we make it sound so difficult, the challenges we face today shouldn't be considered that big of challenges cause the challenges we have overcome in our history were far greater.

What do you think is the best way to start educating sikh youth and getting family's to focus on youth, i do believe the biggest problem is more then half the youth don't know anything about sikhi or history, alot think punjabi is a religion and another name for a sikh. Will this problem be solved by working from the top to the bottom or should we start from the bottom up

also i hate the fact so many of these issues are pushed under the carpet.

Honeslty in punjab whats causing the problem when i was their, is this jatt mentaility oh im jatt i have this much money so i buy my kids cars, they dont' get educated their kids dont' get educated to start buisnesses get jobs and help industralise punjab and they cut up their land and hang themselves running into debt, their kids are spoiled and are given no responsibility which is the worste thing a parant can do to their kid cause humans need a sence of purpose, and instead these kids have no work ethic so no way they can reach any purpose they give themselves.

Basicully soccer or football if your from england, do you want to play on the national team and fight for it all the way to the world cup giving yourself a purpose to win it, or would you rather play on a dream team and win every game easy? so humans need to give themselves purpose and need to give themselves a work ethic to reach it but parants rob this of their kids in punjab.

In punjab ppl who practise caste are to dependent on their land and not educationg and if not education they need to get financial education, most familys in india in middle and upper class family's teach their kids financial literacy even if they don't finish school we need to learn financial literacy thats also why jews and gujaratis are rich.

Sports helps give ppl their own purpose and relise the adrenaline that their brain releases when they fight for their goals and dreams and reach them rather then replace that adrenaline in their brains with outside chemicals like cocain and heroin alchole.

Parants need to stop playing double standards this part of punjabi culture i hate, parants need to stop favouring boys over girls, they spoil their sons and give them no work ethic and they don't reach their potential and settle in life and become alcholics, daughters they neglect, and i learned in sociology human nature, that girls need that attention and that since of belonging and love and acceptance and trust from a male figure, if their brothers are to busy getting spioled and drunk and their fathers are favouring their sons over their daughters, why do you think more and more girls are sluts, cause in their subcountous minds they'll find other ways to replace that basic human need girls have, by sleeping with other guys wearing mini skirts dating and marrying and running off with muslims or becoming prostitutes for their gangster boyfriends cause subcountosly their human need is being met, they get their attention they think they get their sence of belonging and they get they think their getting the love they were neglected.


MOST IMPORTANTLY PARANTS NEED TO TEACH THEIR KIDS SIKHI AND SIKH HISTORY, I MEAN OUR HISTORY IS SO INSPIRATIONAL, IT SHOWS ORDINARY PPL CAN DO EXTRODINARY THINGS, PUNJABIS BECAME SIKHS, WENT FROM BEING PRAY TO HUNTERS, WE BEAT THE ODDS, SIKHS WOULD FACE ARMY'S 10 TIME THEIR SIZE AND WIN. ALSO TO TEACH THIER KIDS ABOUT THE INJUSTICES SIKHS HAVE FACED IN THE 80'S AND 90'S
