Wood is produced from water, but by holding onto wood, one is saved from drowning.

Water is one of the main ingredients in the development of Banaspati (plant world) and for this reason the above pankiti states that the wood is produced from water. Using this as a metaphor Siri Guru jee states that since wood is produced by water, therefore, wood does not sink in water because water being its developer, producer, keeps it afloat.

In similar fashion, Vaheguru is our creator and for this reason he cannot let us drown. He certainly keeps our honour if we jump in the ocean roopi Vaheguru i.e. if we go to him. Just as the wood that goes to ocean or river does not drown in it, same way jeev when it goes to Vaheguru, does not get disappointed. Vaheguru keeps the honour of his Sants, Bhagats.

Daas,
Kulbir Singh

i think its a metaphore for nirgun/sargun. Guru is saying that Sargun arose from Nirgun, He is explaining the nature of Sargun devotion.
